A memorable outdoor Harvest Festival.

On Friday 2nd November, children, staff and parents at Brockhampton Primary School gathered together on the National Trust woodland site to celebrate Harvest.

What made this event special was that the assembly took place outside in a tree covered natural amphitheatre that is at the centre of the school’s premises. Children were seated on semi-circles of hay bales, kindly donated by local farmers. The theme of the assembly was ‘Harvest around the World’ and used work from different cultures to show that the basic principles of skill, knowledge and effort breed success wherever it takes place, a theme elaborated on by the headteacher, Matthew Land. Comparing this to the school, he commented ‘this assembly is a statement of intent, we can’t just talk about being an outdoors school that ‘does’ the curriculum, we have to show what we mean’. This demonstrates our commitment to high quality, engaging education in the most beautiful of settings.

And parents, tucking in afterwards to Year 6 made pumpkin pie, couldn’t agree more.
