Dear Parents
Newsletter 17
A snow free Wednesday – at last.
Firstly, I want to thank all those children and parents who were able to light up Education Sunday at St. Peter’s Church. Our presentation, with proud children happily performing for a large congregation, lit up the Service and reminded all present what ‘extra’ Brockhampton gives.
The Year 4 cake sale is on Friday. Can everyone support the PTA with cake donations – or send children with change! Also, the Valentine’s disco on Friday 12th February is fast approaching. Please look out for further details of this term’s events from the PTA.
The School Council have said they want to raise money for the Haiti Earthquake fund through the Save the Children Charity, therefore Friday 5th February will be non-school uniform day for a contribution of £1. Also, the School Council wants to operate ‘Change for
I am having more discussions with parents about term time holidays. Please accept that the schools position is in line with County and National guidance. If we want the school to be outstanding, then all its data must be outstanding, including attendance. If the attendance dips below our target, then the school has to show what it is doing about it through the ‘unauthorised’ category and the discussion that generates. Remember, our attendance score is viewed as evidence of parental satisfaction (I want my child to go to Brockhampton), and child enthusiasm (I want to go to school at Brockhampton).
The top gates are going to be locked during school hours (8.45am – 3.15pm) to comply with County advice and safeguarding legislation. If any adult has business with the school, they must use the main entrance and go straight to the admin desk in the foyer. I know that there will be occasions when the top gates are late being opened, but please understand as we work to establish this new requirement into our daily routine.
Both the PGL residential (29th Sept – 1st Oct) and the Year 2 residential seem a long way off, but are approaching. Details will follow shortly.
Work on the new nursery provision is continuing to progress. The National Trust (as Landlords) has indicated their consent, meaning the building changes can take place. Publicity will be put out from half term.
Finally, a personal thank you to the children who attended board games club on Monday, It was one of the nicest things I’ve done with children for a long time. Mrs Stack will lead the club for the next two Mondays and I’ll take over again after half term.
