Dear Parents

Newsletter 18

‘Change for Haiti’ Week - Thank you for your support for the children’s campaign to help the victims of the Haiti Earthquake; please remember the non-school uniform day this Friday. The school council will report on the week’s work soon.

About school uniform, I am immensely proud of the way our school presents itself. Can you help your children to keep their ties done up and to tie any long hair back. This is both for smartness and, in the case of hair, safety and makes sure we continue to make the right impression, whatever we do.

I’m afraid we have had to ban trading card games from school.

The PTA Valentines Disco is next Friday, 12th February. A flier from your PTA has gone out. Please feel able to support your PTA – they can be contacted through the school office. If you want to show your support in a more direct way, the PTA’s ‘Next Steps’ meeting is on Tuesday 2nd March at 2.30pm in my office.

The year 3 and 4 Friday night football will go on until 4.30pm.

The top car park is currently a muddy mess. If anyone knows anyone who may be able to contribute and distribute some scalping so that we can use the space better, please let the school know. Any ideas at all will be welcomed.

Next Tuesday is Internet Safety day. More details will be publicised by Mrs Pursey, but I must reinforce that the safe internet use increasingly is a skill all our children need. Some parental workshops are also coming up – see Mrs Pursey’s letter for details.

This is the final call for any questionnaires – either Parental Opinion or Trust School Status. I hope to be able to share the findings before half term and to learn the lessons. No matter how good we are we must always listen and aspire to be better. ‘Only my Best’ indeed.

It is wonderful to see so many adults helping our children and supporting Brockhampton. If you have any time to contribute, feel free to offer your services. It can only make us better.

The Wendy House needs some love and attention after a long hard winter! If we have any handy mums or dads who want to lend a hand keeping this resource looking at its best, please contact Mrs Loris.

Finally, I was chatting to the Headteacher at Tenbury High School last week who mentioned what a pleasure he finds Brockhampton children and how he has come to expect the best from our pupils in terms of attainment, attitude and behaviour. It is wonderful to hear of the high regard our school is held in. Our history and reputation has been hard earnt. As we seek to improve Brockhampton, we must not lose sight of what made the school so well regarded locally. Proud of the past – prepared for the future.
